Apple WWDC 2026 Highlights
Apple's WWDC 2026 event kicked off this morning at 10 a.m. PT at Apple Park, featuring anticipated announcements around Siri, iOS 27, Apple Intelligence, and more, alongside developer events and demos.
This year's event is particularly notable as it marks CEO Tim Cook's last at the company, as he announced he will hand over the reins to Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus on September 1. Additionally, Apple is expected to significantly enhance Siri and its AI initiatives after previously delegating some work to Google and delaying certain releases.
Siri AI Updates
As expected, Apple made the case for an improved experience with its long-standing Siri assistant, admitting it faces greater expectations from users in the AI era. Leveraging Google Gemini, Apple claims the new Siri updates will make it more capable, conversational, and compatible with visual intelligence, with a standalone app alongside existing app integrations.
Before rolling out enhancements, Apple stressed its privacy-centric approach to AI.
