Two years after promising an upgrade, Apple has unveiled its revamped AI-powered assistant, Siri, at the WWDC 2026. The new Siri AI will be available in beta later this year, transforming Siri from a voice-controlled assistant into an AI companion capable of performing a wider range of tasks. This new assistant will launch alongside a dedicated Siri app, leveraging current world knowledge to provide grounded answers to user queries.
When users ask for information, Siri will display text cards with results, pulling data from the web or messages. The redesigned Siri is optimized for modern iPhones and will operate within the Dynamic Island. Instead of glowing when activated, the updated Siri introduces new animations in the Dynamic Island.
The new “Write with Siri” feature will assist users in composing text. When writing in Mail and Messages, Siri will adapt to the user’s typical communication style. For instance, if users usually send brief updates to their manager, Siri will replicate that style in email drafts. Users can swipe down from the Dynamic Island to search or start a conversation by typing or saying “Hey Siri,” or use the side button for detailed answers.
Siri will handle more complex tasks, leveraging information from the web, previous emails, calendars, and contacts. Apple claims that Siri features a new voice experience, allowing for customized pacing and expressiveness. Additionally, system-wide dictation has been enhanced for accuracy in capturing speech, including spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
With Siri AI, users can request in-depth plans, engage in brainstorming, and receive feedback on documents. On macOS, Siri can be accessed from anywhere, integrated into Spotlight for answering questions. On watchOS, users can ask questions and take actions directly from their watches.
